Hi, this is Funky Expressionz — and welcome to my first blog. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was born in Garden Grove, California, and raised in the Santa Ana/Anaheim area. I work at a warehouse and I make beats — it’s my hobby, my escape, and honestly, one of the things I love most in life.
In this crazy-ass world we’re living in, I always find myself diving deep into the beat-making process. It’s therapy for me. I’ve made a few Latin beats here and there, and honestly, at one point I was gonna delete them because I thought they were wack — which they probably are — but then I was like, “F*** NO. I’m not deleting sh*t. I’m gonna keep going and get better.”
So far, I’ve mostly made Latin beats, but I’m planning to start dropping some fire modern funk instrumentals too. I love and enjoy all kinds of music. I’ll go from AC/DC to Bad Bunny real quick.
I work the night shift at a warehouse, and the funny thing is, even though the environment is chaotic and full of distractions, it’s still one of the best places to come up with beats. Oh, and I should probably mention — my forte in music is Spanish. I don’t know why, but I just can’t flow in English. I love listening to English music, but I think because I grew up speaking Spanish, my musical brain just operates in that language. That’s why creating Latin beats feels natural to me.
A lot of times while I’m working, I’ll suddenly get a phrase or a little instrumental jingle looping in my head. It sucks, though, because by the time I get to a spot where the managers can’t see me using my phone, I’ve already forgotten it. That used to piss me off so much.
Lately, though, I’ve just said “f*** the rules” and started pulling my phone out right there on the floor to record myself humming whatever melody pops up. Then I’ll check it out later in my car during break. The problem? The machines in that place are loud as hell. Half the time, the recording is nothing but machinery drowning everything out. Story of my damn life.
But that was me in the beginning. Now, I’ve got a system — I just don’t give a f*** anymore. If I get fired, I get fired. My music’s gonna sustain me financially one way or another. I keep my phone close to my face so the audio’s clear, even if I look like a total idiot humming into it. People walk by like, “Bro… what are you doing?” But I don’t care. I love the process.
I use Fruity Loops Mobile, and it’s fun as hell just sitting there messing around with the keys and drums. Whether I’m crafting Latin beats or experimenting with modern funk grooves, the creative process always hits different. Making music is fun — especially when you’re doing it while you’re supposed to be working.
Now, you might be wondering why I’m even writing all this. The truth is, I wanted to start promoting my beats and didn’t really know how. So I figured, f*** it — I’ll do it like this. This is my music producer blog, and I’m including a link to my music here so you can check it out and vibe with me.
Also, I don’t even know… I just felt like writing. For a while, I was overthinking everything — trying so hard to plan the perfect way to start that I ended up doing nothing. So I said, “F*** it. I’m just gonna write.” I’m gonna write about my beat-making process. I’m gonna write about random sh*t in my life. I’m gonna write about the crazy, funny sh*t I see every day.
I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and I invite you to check out my music below. It’s called “Nunca Te Rindas.” It means “Never Give Up.” Thanks for pulling up to my blog. Enjoy… and bless up.
